Giti Tire’s Nürburgring Journey: A Decade of Engineering, Endurance and Innovation

Giti Tire’s Nürburgring Journey: A Decade of Engineering, Endurance and Innovation

A Decade at the Green Hell

As Giti Tire prepares for another highly anticipated Nürburgring 24-Hour race, the event marks more than just another endurance challenge for the global tire brand. It represents over a decade of motorsport collaboration, engineering development, and innovation forged under some of the toughest racing conditions in the world.

Known globally as the “Green Hell,” the Nürburgring Nordschleife has become a critical proving ground for Giti Tire’s ongoing motorsport and product development programme. Over the last 10 years, Giti has continuously used endurance racing as a real-world laboratory to strengthen tire technologies, gather performance data, and accelerate engineering advancements that extend beyond the racetrack.

Turning Motorsport into an Engineering Laboratory

Stretching across more than 25 kilometres with over 170 corners, dramatic elevation changes, unpredictable weather conditions, and relentless high-speed demands, the Nürburgring remains one of the most technically demanding circuits in motorsport. For tire engineers, the race provides invaluable insights that controlled laboratory testing alone cannot fully replicate.

Throughout each 24-hour campaign, Giti engineers closely monitor tire behaviour under extreme endurance stress, collecting data on grip consistency, heat management, wear performance, wet-weather handling, structural durability, and high-speed stability. Every lap completed contributes to a deeper understanding of how tires perform under constantly changing conditions — from scorching daytime track temperatures to cold nighttime racing and sudden rain showers.

From Track Performance to Everyday Driving

The lessons learned from Nürburgring endurance racing continue to support the development of Giti’s road-going ultra-high-performance tire technologies, helping improve safety, durability, handling precision, and driving confidence for everyday motorists worldwide.

The race environment allows Giti engineers to analyse real-world tire performance under intense pressure, enabling faster innovation and continuous refinement across multiple tire categories.

The WS Racing “Girls Only” Story

A major part of Giti’s Nürburgring journey has been its long-standing partnership with WS Racing and the inspiring “Girls Only – Ready to Rock the Green Hell” initiative.

The programme has become one of the most recognised stories within endurance racing, championing greater female representation in motorsport while competing competitively at one of the world’s toughest racing events.

This year, the team’s Porsche 911 GT3 Cup entry in the AT2 class will once again feature an all-female driver line-up consisting of Carrie Schreiner, Janina Schall, and Fabienne Wohlwend. Alongside the Porsche programme, the “Girls Only Talent Pool” initiative continues to nurture emerging female talents through its Toyota Supra entry in the VT2-RWD class.

For Giti Tire, the partnership reflects shared values of performance, resilience, innovation, inclusion, and long-term development.

Engineering Beyond the Finish Line

As Giti Tire enters another demanding Nürburgring 24-Hour race from 14 May to 17 May 2026, the company’s decade-long commitment to endurance motorsport continues to reinforce an important philosophy — that real-world racing conditions create real-world engineering progress.

From the racetrack to everyday roads, the knowledge gained at the Nürburgring continues to shape the future of tire innovation, proving that every lap driven through the Green Hell contributes to better performance, safety, and reliability for drivers everywhere.
